BACKGROUND
Brian Donnelly (aka KAWS) is a New York-based artist who has made a name out of him designing limited edition toys and clothing. He is also a world-renowned artist who exhibits in museums and galleries internationally. His art stands somewhere between fine art and global commerce. KAWS moved beyond the sphere of the exclusive art market to occupy a more complex global market.
PROBLEM
KAWS does not have a digital platform that allows people to connect and learn about the artist. Being an artist that pushes boundaries with unique perspectives, KAWS always has popup exhibitions and merchandise drops that people have a hard time keeping track of.
SOLUTION
As an artist with an international audience and recognition, KAWS needs a digital platform that allows people to connect and keep updated with the artist. By creating an app with essential and unique features, it will allow a more immersive experience with the artist.
KAWS: WHAT PARTY APP
KAWS: What Party exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum showcased unique collections of never seen before work. By integrating functional features for the exhibit within the app, it helps create a immersive and enjoyable experience for all museum-goers.

FEATURE 1. DISCOVERY
PROBLEM
The work displayed at the exhibit lacks information and background. This makes it difficult for visitors to learn and experience the work and exhibit to its full potential.
SOLUTION
When visitors launch the discover feature in the app, whenever they are in the vicinity of any pieces, it will pop up for users and update users as they move through the exhibit.
FEATURE 2. MERCH LOTTERY SYSTEM
The high demand for KAWS merchandise makes it difficult for everyone to get ahold of them. Resellers often buy in large quantities causing the stock to run low quickly.
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
To make the purchase process more open. There is a lottery system implemented in place for upcoming high-demand items. This gives visitors and users a fair chance to take home a KAWS Limited Collectible!
FEATURE 3. AR EXPERIENCE
PROBLEM
There is a lack of immersion in the exhibit. For people who are not familiar with KAWS, it’s difficult for them to learn about the artist since the exhibit is just a showcase of rare and unique KAWS works.
SOLUTION
Create an AR experience that allows users to learn about KAWS and the work in the exhibit in an immersive experience. The AR experience allows visitors to learn about the artist upcoming and easter eggs hidden throughout the exhibit.
MOVING FORWARD
This project allowed the freedom to create a style from scratch based on the work and artist from any museum. Throughout the design process, I successfully created the style that captures the essence of KAWS’ work. With more time, I would create a complete experience within the app.  The features designed for the exhibit in mind make the experience more seamless and immersive.
